Association Elections:
Election filing for Village Association and Residential Design Review
Committee (RDRC) spots is through this Thursday, Jan 19. As of today, no
one has filed for Sterling Ridge Village Assoc President or Secretary, and
there are also Area Representative and RDRC positions for which no one has
filed. Serving in one of these offices is a great way to get involved in
the community and get to know other people in the area.
Traffic Issues:
The following schedule is the latest I have from Commissioner Ed Chance’s
office, supplemented by information passed along from Indian Springs TWA
Director Lloyd Matthews (thanks Lloyd)
Woodlands Parkway & Branch Crossing traffic light - within a few days
Woodlands Parkway & Stony Hurst traffic light - 4 months
Woodlands Parkway & Forest Gate, Lake Woodlands, and Flintridge traffic
lights - 6-8 months
Research Forest & Kuykendahl traffic light in 6-8 months.
All stop signs on Lake Woodlands Drive will be replaced with traffic lights
in 12-18 months.
A study is underway for a traffic signal at Flintridge and Gosling Road.
The intersection on Woodlands Parkway between Kuykendahl and Lake Woodlands,
that goes from Sterling Ridge and Indian Springs Shopping
Centers, will be modified to allow left turns only from Woodlands
Parkway into the shopping center on the opposite side of the road. Exiting
from each shopping center, only a right turn will be allowed at that center
intersection.
According to The Woodlands Development Company, Woodlands Parkway will be 4
lanes all the way to FM 2978 by this summer. Also, this year the
intersections at Woodlands Parkway and Kuykendahl and Research Forest and
Kuykendahl will be expanded to help better facilitate traffic flow.

future government structure of The Woodlands. They have set

Community-Wide Governance Forum
On Saturday, February 25, 2006, the Governance Steering Committee
will hold a forum at Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, 26777
Glen Loch Drive from 8:00 AM until Noon. This forum will be
an interactive event where the public will utilize evaluation
criteria to further discuss and analyze the Governance Alternatives.
This is a critical point in the process and everyone is encouraged
to participate. Additional
information and registration information.
Park and Ride Status:
According to The Woodlands Development Company, there are plans to build a
Woodlands Express Park & Ride lot near Woodlands Parkway and Ashlane Way.
However, that development seems to be some time away. There will likely be
public hearings on the facility in the Spring of 2006, with construction
probably not commencing until 2007.
Law Enforcement Update
The Woodlands Association, along with the Community Association of The
Woodlands and the Woodlands Commercial Owners Association, has included
funds in the 2006 budgets to engage a law enforcement consultant to work
with us and review the money we are spending and how it is being spent,
compare that to the needs of the community, and determine if we should be
spending that money differently or spend additional money. We take this
issue seriously and will do what we can to provide a higher level of
service. We anticipate that the review will take place over the next 6
months.
Arbor Day:
Arbor Day is this Saturday, January 21, 2006, from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM at
Market Street. More than 28,000 tree seedlings will be distributed free to
residents.
New Parks in Sterling Ridge:
Within about 3 months, there should be two new parks completed, both off
Terramont Drive. These are Winterra Park, a neighborhood park and the other
is Marquise Oaks Pond Park, which will have a fishing pier.
Organization of The Woodlands:
An organization chart for The Woodlands has been developed
and added to the Sterling Ridge website at www.sterling-ridge.org/org_chart.php.
The chart is "clickable," and takes the viewer to
FAQ where additional information is given about the various
organizations that provide services to residents of The Woodlands.
New Community Service Feature:
A very easy to use feature on the Community Associations website
provides a way to report problems or ask for assistance from
the Community Associations paid staff. Problems or questions
relating to things like park, pathway, and streetscape maintenance,
street lights, covenant administration, garbage and recycle
pickup, pools, etc, can be entered online via the “Service
Request” button on the Community
Associations website. This new feature is very easy to
use and responses are sent via e-mail notifying the resident
of the status of his or her request. There is no need to contact
me with every request. Feel free to contact me, however, if
you have any trouble getting resolution.
TWA Board Meeting
The next TWA board meeting will be Thursday, January 26, 2006
